Home Remedies for Colds and Flu

Home Remedies for Colds and Flu

Your faithful Big Learning editor is publishing from the sickbed this week, victim of a tenacious sinus infection. I'm suddenly more interested than usual in medical information available on the Internet. After all, learning the hows, whens, and whys of treating common illness is big learning.  When do you need to see a doctor? What home remedies have a prayer of offering relief? Which remedies are ineffective or even dangerous? What over-the-counter drugs are worth buying? Here are some interesting web sites and articles.

Home remedies for cold and flu:
An article from ABC News explaining chicken soup, etc.: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/GMA/Living/Flu_cold_home_remedies_031211-1.html

More common-sense advice: http://www.mothernature.com/Library/bookshelf/Books/47/61.cfm

Well-written information about over-the-counter and prescription drugs:

No-nonsense information about treatment of common ailments: http://emedicinehealth.com/dc-centers.asp

Information about health-related hoaxes, studies of dubious remedies, etc.

That's all for Big Learning News this week. Stay healthy.
